Inspiration for "husband (ghost)" came from a weird part of my brain. Like Edgar Allan Poe said, "The most beautiful thing in the world is a dead, dying, or otherwise unavailable woman." This poem explores that theme from beyond the grave. It first appeared in Altered Voice Magazine and later on my audio book CD, Until Death Do Impart.
husband (ghost)
i negotiate
forbidden
space
kinky-haired
she
stretches
lets the sun
caress
her skin
her breasts
feed fantasy
& supple life
i know
i can't
touch her
banished
to starlight
chain gang
